Writers on Reading: Lee Child

http://www.leechild.com/
Lee Child, originally from Coventry in England, is one of the  worlds premier thriller writers, his novels featuring the enigmatic wandering hero Jack Reacher have  entertained readers across the world, and are usually to be found topping bestseller lists and flying off bookshelves and library desks everywhere. his last Jack Reacher novel- 'Never Go Back' was released last year and is available now.

What is the first book you remember reading?
The most memorable book I read was from the library.  I was four years old.  The book title was My Home In America, and showed a boy sitting at the window of a tall building, gazing out over New York City at night.  I wanted to be that boy.  Now I am.

What effect does being an author have on you as a reader?
I read as much, if not more, and as widely as I always have.  It’s possible I read more critically.  I admire what works and learn what not to do, sometimes.

Are there any books you can read again and again?
There are too many books yet to read.

Are there any genres that you wouldn’t choose to read?
I'll read almost anything, including histories of subjects like Air Conditioning.

What is the current book on your nightstand/coffee table?
I'm writing the #19 Reacher novel right now so my nightstand is clear of distraction.
